Box Hill United's 2017 Promotion Push starts with a home game against local rivals Eastern Lions with a huge crowd expected at Wembley Park for the season opener
Last Saturday our Senior Men & U20 teams both made positive starts to a very important 2017 season. Both teams came home from Murray United with 0-0 results in very hot conditions.
This week we need everyone’s support to cheer on our players at our first home game of the season at Wembley Park against local rival Eastern Lions SC.
All our players and player parents enter all our home games free of charge (membership cards will follow in coming weeks). This Saturday our famous souvlaki gyros that we are well known for will be on offer, come down grab a bite to eat, have a drink with friends and cheer loudly to get our boys over the line.
Additional to our very important game this Saturday, Box Hill United SC will be rallying to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave campaign by supporting one of our own players, Lorenzo Tarzia.
Every year people around Australia shave their heads in an effort to raise funds to promote the research into, and support for, victims suffering from leukaemia, the blood cancer causing the third most cancer related deaths in Australia.
Unfortunately for many of us, our lives be it through friends or family have been affected by cancer and both recently and in the past, Lorenzo’s social networks have been damaged because of the disease.
Lorenzo has volunteered himself for this great cause in hope of raising a goal of $4,000. He will be shaving his head on March 18th and is furthermore determined that his locks may be turned into a wig, to be donated to one of the many sick children and adults, who suffer from Leukemia in its varying forms.
Being a vibrant part of the Box Hill community for 3 years now and spending some time playing senior football at the club, we have decided to support him in his tremendous fundraising efforts at our first home game of the season.
Below is a link to the greatest shave page where you will find more information.
A gold coin donation is requested at the gate to help support this great cause.
We understand that everyone has busy lives but we ask that all our families from Miniroos, Junior NPL Boys & WNPL all make a special effort to attend this Saturdays game with family and friends and get behind the Box Hill Family.
