U15 players Estelle and Elise compete in karate outside of football. Not only are they the toughest players on the team, but they are now also Australian Karate champions!
Here is what their sensei and team manager had to say:
Sensei Pat Pinto:
It gives me great pleasure to share with you the outstanding achievements of Estelle and Elise with their Karate.
This was both girls first appearance in the Australian Kyokushin Karate Association National championships along with their brother James, but more so Big Brother Johnny who last year won the Male Colts National Title.
The girls progressed nicely into the Semi Final and worked hard to meet off in the Female Colts Female.
It was neck and neck the whole way until the absolute last second, where Estelle just got over the line.
The sisters are currently No 1 and 2 in Australia for Full Contact Karate.
Sure the trophies look good and the title also, but it's just a bow tie to compliment the commitment, discipline, hard training, sacrifice, strong spirit and the big one - dedication. We pride ourselves on balancing everyone's passions and these two with the guidance of their parents and support from the Box Hill United SC are simply 'getting it done'.
All the best this season to all the teams at Box Hill United SC, you're all welcome to come down to Hammers Gym and try take on the No1 No 2 Colt Champs anytime ... Ha!
'Never Give Up'
Team manager Dean Georgio:
It makes sense now on how they approach football and training with a certain code of work ethic and a quiet and humble disposition, and they let their actions do the talking and they always play the game with a never say die attitude and always back their team mates.
Amazing assets to our team and the spiritual leaders of the U15’s Box Hill Girls Team.
