Box Hill United have strengthened their backline with the addition of full-back Samuel Logozzo from Pascoe Vale.
The youngster enjoyed a breakthrough season at CB Smith Reserve last term and said the presence of the coaching duo of Con Karagiannidis and Michael Calandrella at United titled his decision in favour of making the switch.
Logozzo flourished under the supervision of the same coaching partnership in 2018, when Con and Michael were part of the coaching staff at Pascoe Vale.
Speaking about their impact as tutors, the 20-year-old defender said, “[Settling down at Box Hill is] very easy – I have known these two coaches for a long time. They have been there and done it at all levels [of football]. They are both outstanding coaches, both learning their trade with some of the best and are now carrying through.
“Straightaway, it’s about always playing the ball, keeping to the structure, quick passing and quick movement. I think it’s always pushing the players to get the best [out of them] and see where you go from there. Hopefully, these two coaches will get the best out of everyone [here at Box Hill as well].”
The two-footed full-back, who studies Business and Communication Systems at RMIT, has also plied his trade at Green Gully, Altona City and Sunshine George Cross. Moreover, he gained valuable NPL experience as part of the Melbourne Victory U20s squad.
Logozzo said it’s about having the right mentality as he keeps setting the bar higher up, “I kept grinding – that’s what it’s all about. It’s going to be hard knocks – whenever you get knocked down, just get back up straight away, and go again.
“At competitions like this (NPL), you are going to take losses, take draws and you have got to get wins. You have to deal with them in the appropriate way to keep the results at the best possible.”
