A host of Box Hill United juniors have travelled to Canberra to participate in the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships within Football Victoria’s age-group squads.
Here is a summary from Day 1 of the Victorians’ exploits in the Capital:
U/12 boys (Pool B)
Round 1 saw Football Victoria record a whooping 14-1 win over Football NSW Country at the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium. Box Hill’s Nicholas Kanelopoulos is a part of the Victorian young guns.
Victoria will play Football West Black Swans in Round 2.
U/13 boys (Pool B)
Football Victoria demolished their Football NSW Country North counterparts 8-2 in Round 1, with Box Hill’s Lucas Green grabbing four goals at the ANU Sports Centre.
The Victorian side, which also includes Box Hill juniors Marc Petheriotis, Alex Di Tommaso,
Hur Ali Doostizadah, Giani Galanos and Ethan Fox, have received a bye in Round 2.
They will be up against Football NSW Metro Thunder in the third stage.
U/14 boys (Pool A)
Another blistering display from Football Victoria ensured a 10-1 triumph over Football SA Red at the ANU Sports Centre.
Box Hill juniors stole the headlines in this Round 1 tie, with Oliver Lavale (3), Alex Tektonopoulos (3), Xavier Salisbury (1) and Luke Pickett (1) all on the scoresheet. Benjamin Chiew is also amongst the Box Hill representatives in the roster.
In Round 2, the FV youngsters squared up against Football NSW Country, and emerged 13-0 victorious. Lavale (3), Tektonopoulos (5) and Salisbury (1) contributed to the goal-fest from Box Hill.
U/13 girls (Pool B)
In a closely-fought Round 1 encounter, Football Victoria edged Football NSW Country North 3-2 at the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium.
Box Hill junior girls Allegra Angel and Maddie Campbell are representing the club with the Victorian team.
Following a bye in Round 2, the FV girls will play against Football NSW Metro Lightning in Round 3.
It was Round 1 heartbreak for Football Victoria at the Radford College arena, going down 6-1 to FQ Metro.
Out of an original four-member Box Hill contingent, only Niki Galanos was available for selection – who captained the Victorian youngsters.
Round 2 saw the FV outfit scripting a spirited 6-3 win over Football NSW Country at the same venue. Two Box Hill girls Galanos and Aggela Dimos got on the scoresheet.
The side will be pitted against Football SA in Round 3.
