FFA National Futsal C’ships: Day 2 wrap-up

January 14, 2020

Box Hill United juniors continued their week in the FFA National Futsal Championships with Football Victoria (FV) Futsal, and here is how the day went in Canberra.

U/12 boys (Pool B)

FV Futsal won by the odd goal in a nine-goal thriller (5-4) against Football West Black Swans in Round 2.

Round 3 saw FV up against Football NSW Metro Lightning, with the latter winning 6-3.

U/13 boys (Pool B)

Victoria’s Round 3 clash against Football NSW Metro Thunder resulted in a 6-2 loss, with Box Hill’s Alex Di Tommaso one of the FV scorers at the ANU Sports Centre.

But FV Futsal turned it around in Round 4 with a 5-0 thumping of Capital Australia, with goals coming from Box Hill’s Lucas Green (2), Di Tommaso (1), Marc Petheriotis (1) and Hur Ali Doostizadah (1).

Victoria next face Football SA Red in Round 5.

U/14 boys (Pool A)

Football Victoria received a bye in Round 3, and will play Football NSW Metro Thunder tomorrow in Round 4.

U/13 girls (Pool B)

In Round 3, Football NSW Metro Lightning got the better of the Victorian girls, 8-1. Box Hill’s Maddie Campbell grabbed FV’s solitary strike.

FV’s Round 4 opponents were Capital Football, who were pipped to the final whistle 3-2.

U/15 girls

It was Round 3 agony for FV as they went down 7-1 to tournament heavyweights Football NSW Metro Thunder at the Radford College arena.

After a Round 4 bye, the Victorian girls will be up against Football NSW Country North in the fifth stage.

In a catch-up game, Football SA overcame Victoria 6-0 in a late kick-off today.
