FFA National Futsal C’ships: Day 4 round-up

January 16, 2020

The 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships has entered into the finals stage, where Box Hill United youngsters continued to feature prominently for Football Victoria (FV) Futsal squads today.

Day 4 wrap-up from Canberra below:

U/12 boys

FV Futsal’s U/12 boys finished their Pool B group stage commitments at third place, with eight points from five games.

However, in the quarter-finals, their hopes of progress were crushed by Football NSW Metro Thunder, who emerged 6-1 victors at the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium.

Box Hill’s Nicholas Kanelopoulos has been with team FV for this tournament.

U/13 boys

Victoria progressed into the knock-out phase high on confidence, having racked up 27 goals in their Pool B group.

The FV youngsters kept up their high-flying intensity to punch a grand final ticket with successive victories today.

They first got the better of Football NSW Country 5-1 (Lucas Green X 1 / Alex Di Tommaso X 1 / Marc Petheriotis X 2), with another resounding 5-0 semi-final win against FQ Metro (Green X 1 / Petheriotis X 4).

Tomorrow’s final match is slated for 10.45 AM at the AIS Training Halls Court 2.

U/14 boys

The Victorian U/14 boys marked their foray into the quarter-finals with a 7-0 thrashing of Football SA Blue at the ANU Sports Centre.

Box Hill’s Ben Chiew (1), Oliver Lavale (2) and Alex Tektonopoulos (1) were heavily involved in the scheme of things.

Their semi-final opponents Solomon Islands provided a stronger prospect. But the FV outfit prevailed over them 5-2, with Tektonopoulos (2) and Lavale (1) getting on the scorecard.

Victoria’s final outing tomorrow is at the AIS Training Halls Court 1, from 10.45 AM.

U/13 girls

The U/13 FV girls, featuring Box Hill's Allegra Angel and Maddie Campbell, proved too strong for FQ Metro in the quarter-final, and clinched it 4-2 at the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium.

However, Victoria fell at the last-four hurdle 6-1 against Football NSW Metro Storm at the same venue in a 2 PM kick-off.

U/15 girls

Football Victoria U/15 girls had a tough day in the office, as they played the last two games of their league stage.

Round 7 saw them succumb to Football West Black Swans 4-0 at the Radford College arena.

While in Round 8, Football NSW Metro Lightning overpowered them 12-1 in an afternoon match-up at the same venue.

Box Hill’s Niki Galanos, Emma Somers and Aggela Dimos featured for team FV.
