Experienced forward Liam Baxter is the latest addition to Box Hill United senior men’s squad for NPL3 2020, the club are pleased to announce.
Baxter, from Scotland’s Inverness, spent two seasons with Langwarrin SC before this, winning promotion to the NPL2 from State League 1 in his first season with them.
The forward began his Australian venture with Goulburn Valley Suns, and also had a short spell at Mornington.
The 28-year-old’s early career spanned across hometown club Inverness Caledonian Thistle, as well as in the Highland Leagues with Brora Rangers, Buckie Thistle and Forres Mechanics.
Baxter is now keen to make the cut into a high-pressing style of play being implemented at Box Hill under coach Con Karagiannidis.
Looking ahead, he said, “It’s a good club, very professional. I have played against them [before]. It seemed a good choice for me at this moment in time.
“I met with Con, and he was keen to get me down and get started. Box Hill is known for playing good attacking football. Hopefully, I can get good movement and provide some goals for the team.”
The industrious striker is always looking to pounce on opportunities in and around the penalty area, and further highlighted the quality of his current teammates as pre-season preparations continue.
Baxter said, “It’s good that we have got boys from different backgrounds and experiences, and all blends. We can learn from one another. Hopefully, some of the younger boys can help them on the way through.”
