Box Hill United’s senior women have received an attacking boost with the arrival of determined forward Sarah Fitzpatrick at Wembley Park.
Fitzpatrick, from the Bayside area, spent two seasons with South Melbourne prior to signing on the dotted line for Box Hill.
In the 2018 NPLW (U/19s) grand final, the young gun scored the title-deciding goal for South’s reserves in a 2-1 victory against Calder United.
Fast-tracking her progress in 2019, Fitzpatrick registered 13 goals in 26 U/19 appearances at the Lakeside Stadium, and a further eight appearances and two goals with South’s senior women.
Buoyed by her track record in the past few seasons, the 18-year-old is now feeling confident to vie for a regular first-team reckoning.
The pacy attacker said, “[I am] pretty excited – new club this season. I am looking forward to a first season within a senior squad from the beginning, [and] to having the intensity and always pushing myself.
“I was a little rocky in the middle of the season but then broke through to the seniors, and had some opportunities and nice goals to put myself out there a little bit.”
The former Bayside United player added, “I finished strong [last season] and I am looking forward to a season in the seniors for the whole year.
“I am trying to build myself, and am only going to develop with players that are better than me.”
