Our senior women have roped in committed midfielder Irene Paracki, and the youngster revealed her intentions of adapting to the Box Hill United way with positivity.
Paracki had enjoyed a superb stint at South Melbourne over the last four years, including scoring 21 goals in 23 appearances with their U/19s in 2019. She also featured for the seniors five times, scoring once.
A determined midfielder with a knack of finding the net, the youngster can operate along the flanks as well as in the attacking-midfield zone.
Paracki is now keen to fit into her new surroundings instantly. She said, “I am really enjoying the training sessions. The girls are working really hard. We are focusing on building the strongest team that we can for next season.
“The girls are very encouraging and supportive, and I feel like I can fit into that type of attitude. I am excited to meet new people and play with them, to learn the style at Box Hill.”
Paracki, from Camberwell, lifted the U/19s’ NPLW title with South in 2018, and is now setting the bar high for herself to taste that winning feeling.
She explained, “I was very happy with my season last year. I felt I was ready to move up and work harder and be in a harder competition, where I can be challenged a lot more, [to] fight for a position in the [senior] team.
“Success is one of the most important things, and I know this team wants to be successful. We want to see how far we can go.
“I have felt that success of winning a competition is incredible and I’d love to do that with the seniors. That would be even better for me.”
Aiming to script her learning curve onwards and upwards, the former Senior NTC player added, “I am focusing on performing well at training, trying to give my all.
“In order to make a mark in the team, I have to work hard, because I can see that some of these girls are very good. So far, I have been approaching it with positivity, knowing that I have to earn my place.”
