Box Hill United welcomes established charity partners

February 13, 2020

Box Hill United is pleased to announce that the club has teamed up with the ‘Reagan Milstein Foundation’ and ‘We Give a Boot’, as we enter the 2020 season.

With this partnership, the club’s fans, members, families, players and coaches will now have a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the community through the sport we all love.

The ‘Reagan Milstein Foundation’ was launched in November, 2010, to honour the memory of Reagan Milstein, who tragically passed away in July, 2010 – at just 14 – following a scuba diving accident.

The organisation aims to continue Reagan’s legacy of helping others at every opportunity.

The Foundation has since championed a host of initiatives and programs towards the enrichment of diverse communities, both across Australia and abroad.

These include collection of used sports gear (uniforms, boots, soccer bags, balls) for re-distribution to those who need them the most, sponsoring promising athletes, and fundraising for supporting kids to play sports.

So far, the Foundation has successfully assisted communities with $800,000 worth of sports gear in replacement value.

Similarly, ‘We Give A Boot’ was co-founded in 2016 by Box Hill United’s U/12 girls’ head coach Paul Tucker and his three daughters.

‘We Give A Boot’ collects good quality second-hand football boots, which are then provided to disadvantaged playing communities through the help of other charities.

In collaboration with the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, Their Beautiful Game and the Reagan Milstein Foundation, ‘We Give A Boot’ has reached out to communities in Australia, as well as the South Pacific, Asia and Africa.

As of 2019, it had amassed over 2,000 pairs of boots that were distributed to around 14 countries worldwide.

How can you help as part of the Box Hill United family?

To support the efforts of our new charity partners, Box Hill United has arranged for collection bins to be located at Wembley Park on all home matchdays (seniors and juniors), throughout the 2020 season.

If you have any suitable used items of clean/wearable sports uniforms, or other sports gear such as soccer balls, soccer bags and boots, which you wish to donate to these charities, please do so at these collection bins at Wembley Park.

The club will then ensure that our partners gather these donated items from Wembley Park.
