NPLW Junior Girls Rd 3 Wrap-Up

March 8, 2020

Box Hill United junior girls were on the road for the first time in the 2020 NPLW Victoria season, taking on Alamein FC at St Kevin’s College, Tooronga Sports Fields.

Despite a brave effort from our girls and plenty of goals, there were mixed results across the three age-groups.

Here is the wrap-up from today’s Round 3 fixtures:

Box Hill’s U/12s were good value for their talent, as they edged their Alamein counterparts 3-2 to bag the season’s first victory.

Ella Pongho (2) and Tianyi Huang (1) scored for Box Hill on the day.

In a scoreline that did not reflect our U/16s’ attacking dominance, they fell to a clinical Alamein side 3-0.

Despite bossing proceedings in the attacking third, the Box Hill girls failed to score from their chances, ultimately returning empty-handed.

In a gripping seven-goal encounter, Box Hill U/16s ended on the wrong side by the odd goal after the final whistle.

In spite of Box Hill taking a 3-1 lead midway through the first period itself, Alamein squeezed to a slender 4-3 win in the end.
