Box Hill United senior women’s American import Natalie Higgins is excited to be part of “a big community”, as she readies for life at Wembley Park in new club colours.
Higgins, from San Clemente in California, arrives in Australia with a superb track record.
After amassing 71 appearances for Oregon State University between 2014 and 2017, the young midfield dynamo signed for Italian outfit Ravenna Women FC in 2018.
A brief training stint with OC Galaxy back in the USA followed, prior to her move here for the 2020 NPLW season.
Looking ahead to the new term and a fresh challenge, an optimistic Higgins said, “I am so excited to be here. The welcome has been amazing from my teammates, the coaches and everyone here [at the club].
“I played with Liv (Olivia Ellis – BHU defender) at university. She got me in contact through here. Talking to Jorge (BHU head coach), it seems like a big community, and I want to be a part of it.
“It will be a challenge, and we are going to have to work hard. But it is a good group of girls who are willing to learn [from one another], and work together.”
Technically gifted, and always keen to catch the opposition off-guard with lighting pace, the 24-year-old is now eager to share her experience and work towards a common cause.
Higgins added, “It is a lot of responsibility, but I am excited for it. I am hoping that my experience and style of play will improve the team.
“I can tell from the [recent] practice sessions that it is a good group, and we are going to work well together. This team has passion, and it is going to bounce off everybody else.”
