It is with great disappointment, frustration and sadness that we are faced with the news of another lockdown. Yesterday afternoon, the Victorian Government announced Stage 3 ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions would be reinstated across metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59 PM on 8 July (Wednesday) for a period of six weeks.
While it is devastating on many fronts, we need to put our best foot forward to come out of this as quickly as possible. Our only aim can be for everyone to stay healthy and well, and return to normal activity as soon as it is permitted.
We need you to remain registered, ready to return to training and play in whatever format possible – to keep players developing and to keep the club in good shape to navigate through this difficult time.
Effective 11.59 PM on 8 July (Wednesday) for a period of six weeks or advised otherwise by the relevant authorities, all football activity at Box Hill United SC will cease. The club facilities are not to be used by anyone, and we are not able to continue delivering our program based on some of the relevant restrictions below.
Community sport training and competition cannot occur.
Outdoor sport facilities will be closed.
Personal training outdoors can occur but with a limit of two participants, including the instructor.
As a board, we could not be more proud of our entire club. We sincerely thank you all for your help, support, understanding, care and commitment during this really difficult time. Everyone has done everything right to keep our players playing, our coaches coaching and our spectators watching. We have barely missed a beat.
We were the first full club with all our teams back at training three times a week, and tonight we will be the last club off the park. We promise all our players, coaches, and members we will be back on the park as soon as permitted. Until then, everyone should stay well, positive, healthy and fit.
The club’s intention is always to deliver our program in any capacity possible, as permitted by the government, Football Victoria, Football Federation Australia and the local council. We know there may be questions, and we will share anything that we receive from Football Victoria as it becomes available.
We cannot thank Football Victoria & the Whitehorse City Council enough for everything they have done through this ever-changing time to keep us training and playing, and fully support that to continue well into the year when possible.
In the meantime, we will keep on communicating with our members and playing groups. We will also continue to plan for training and playing opportunities on our return, so we can “hit the ground running”.
Box Hill United SC.
